What Tally automation can do

Many Indian businesses and accounting firms spend hours every month typing purchase invoices, expense bills and bank entries into Tally. Most of that work is repetitive. With OCR and AI, invoices can be read automatically, checked and turned into entries that your accountant reviews and posts, so time goes to checking and advice, not typing.

Purchase invoice capture

Vendor, GSTIN, invoice number and date, line items, quantity, rate and tax.

GST fields

CGST, SGST, IGST and HSN or SAC codes captured and validated for totals.

Validation

Duplicate invoices, missing GSTIN and mismatched totals flagged before posting.

Entry preparation

Data prepared in a format your Tally set-up can import, for review.

Reports

Scheduled summaries of payables, GST and vendor spend.

Reminders

Payment due and follow-up reminders to the team or vendors.

How it works

Step 1. Collect

Invoices arrive by email, WhatsApp or upload into one folder.

Step 2. Read

OCR and AI extract the fields, with a confidence score on each.

Step 3. Check

Totals, tax and duplicates are validated. Low-confidence invoices go to a review screen.

Step 4. Prepare and import

Approved entries are prepared for import into Tally using the method that suits your version and set-up.

The exact way data reaches Tally (import files or integration) depends on your Tally version and set-up. We confirm the approach during the audit, and entries are reviewed by your accountant before posting.

Before we start: a short checklist

  • Which Tally product and version do you use, and is it single or multi-user?
  • How do invoices reach you: email, WhatsApp, paper scanned in batches?
  • Roughly how many invoices per month, and how varied are the formats?
  • Who reviews and posts entries, and what are your ledger and voucher rules?
  • Which GST scenarios matter: purchases, sales, reverse charge, composition vendors?

Limits to expect

Poor scans, handwritten bills and unusual layouts reduce accuracy, and some fields will always need a person to confirm. Rules for ledger mapping are only as good as your chart of accounts, so we agree mapping rules with your accountant first. Automation prepares entries for review. It does not replace your accountant's judgement or your responsibility for GST compliance.

Frequently asked questions

Can invoices be entered into Tally automatically?

Data can be extracted and prepared for import, with review before posting. Fully unattended posting is possible only with clear rules and good data quality.

Does it handle GST?

Yes. GSTIN, tax amounts and HSN or SAC codes are captured and checked against totals. Your accountant remains responsible for compliance.

Which Tally versions are supported?

It depends on the version and integration method. We confirm during the audit.

How accurate is it?

It depends on invoice quality and variety. We test on your invoices and flag uncertain fields for review.

How much does it cost?

It depends on invoice volume and formats. We scope after a free audit.
